When is the right age/time to start speech therapy?
This is one of the most common questions parents search for. The answer is: The day you realize on your own or through a professional that there is a need for intervention to help improve your child's communication skills is the day your child should start receiving speech therapy services. Early intervention decreases frustration and tantrums due to communication breakdown. Improved communication skills help them with their social skills such as turn-taking, greetings, answering questions, asking for help, and so on. Whether they are at preschool, daycare, or at home, early intervention will help them follow directions and comprehend what is being said, and prepare them better and faster for kindergarten/school where they are expected to be more independent.
Don't wait thinking they will grow out of it or catch up. Seek early intervention now.
